2006 MICA ROYAL Awards Competition

Nine central Maryland home remodeling companies have been recognized by the Maryland Improvement Contractors Association (MICA) for outstanding projects completed in 2006. The Remodeler of the Year Awards (ROYAL) will be presented by MICA on November 16 during an awards banquet at the Center Club in Baltimore.

The nine companies captured 24 awards in 11 categories of competition.

Topping this year's list of award recipients is American Contracting Services, Inc. located in Jarrettsville, Md. The company will receive four ROYAL Awards in the following categories: Residential Bath $40,000 or over, Entire House, Residential Exterior $50,000 or over and Residential Historical. The company will also be presented with the Award of Merit for a project in the Residential Exterior under $50,000 category.

ARDO Contracting located in Columbia, Md. will receive three MICA Awards including a ROYAL Award in both the Entire House category and in the Residential Exterior under $50,000 category and an Award of Merit in the Residential Kitchen over $50,000 category.

Welsh Construction Remodeling Company of Baltimore will also receive five MICA awards including one ROYAL Award in the Insurance Restoration category. Four Awards of Merit will be presented to Welsh Construction projects in the following categories: Residential Bath $40,000 or over, Residential Kitchen under $50,000, Residential Exterior $50,000 or over and Residential Kitchen over $50,000.

Receiving three Awards of Merit and one ROYAL Award will be Thomson Remodeling of Baltimore. Thomson will be honored with two Awards of Merit for Residential Kitchen under $50,000 projects and one for a Residential Kitchen over $50,000 project. The ROYAL Award will be presented to the remodeling contractor for work performed in the Residential Specialty category.

Also being recognized are River Crest Design & Build and Lazzell Design Works.

River Crest Design and Build, located in Annapolis, will receive a ROYAL Award for work in the Residential Bath under $40,000 category as well as an Award of Merit in the Residential Exterior $50,000 or over category.

Lazzell Design Works of White Hall, Md. will be presented with a ROYAL Award for a project in the Residential Interior $50,000 or over category. Lazzell will also be honored with an Award of Merit for a Residential Specialty project.

Snyder Home Services and ADR Builders also earned MICA ROYAL Awards. ADR Builders of Timonium was recognized in the Residential Kitchen over $50,000 category, and Snyder Home Services located in Owings Mills was honored in the Residential Kitchen under $50,000 category.

The final Award of Merit will be presented to American Design and Build of Bel Air for their winning project in the entire house category.
